Environmental Consulting Services Since 1967
In 1967, Laicon, Inc. was incorporated in Illinois as an environmental consulting firm initially intended to provide industrial wastewater environmental consulting services for metal finishers and heavy industries within Cook County. This wasn’t by chance since at that time the then Metropolitan Sanitary District (MSD) - now called Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago (MWRD) - was one of the first sanitary districts within the United States to promulgate an industrial wastewater discharge ordinance.
It 1969, the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) retained Laicon, Inc. (Laicon) to assist them in complying with the MWRD’s new ordinance requirements. Besides sampling and testing all of the CTA’s bus garage effluents for user charge purposes, Laicon also provided consulting services for the design and installation of process wastewater discharge systems for the CTA’s bus garages.

Laicon, Inc. was founded prior to the establishment of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency!
Until the mid-1970s, Laicon’s environmental services primarily revolved around wastewater including feasibility studies, design and “turnkey” design, regulatory support services, and process/wastewater system installations. In the late 1980’s, Laicon’s catalog of environmental services was expanded to include environmental site assessments (Phase I and Phase II) and leaking underground storage tank (LUST) services. By the 1990’s our services included asbestos surveys, UST/AST system design and construction services, soil remediation, and groundwater remediation. In the 2000’s Laicon’s services expanded once again to include vapor mitigation, CCDD compliance services, and dry cleaner inspections.
